Moscow:

Russia has granted the right of permanent residence to US whistleblower Edward Snowden, the TASS news agency said Thursday, citing Snowden’s lawyer Anatoly Kucherena.

Snowden fled the United States and was granted asylum in Russia after leaking secret files in 2013 that revealed extensive domestic and international surveillance operations carried out by the U.S. National Security Agency.

Snowden’s Russian attorney, Kucherena, told TASS his client is not yet considering applying for a Russian passport.

US President Donald Trump said in August he was considering a pardon for Snowden.
