The wearing of face masks has been made mandatory to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.

Failure to wear a mask in public places in Chhattisgarh will result in a fine of 100 rupees, a state government statement said on Friday.

The decision was made at a meeting of cabinet ministers and senior officials chaired by chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday, the statement said.

Minister of Agriculture Ravindra Choubey said in the press release that the wearing of face masks has been made mandatory for every citizen to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection, and anyone found not wearing a mask in the public places will be fined 100 rupees.

It has also been decided that the admission process to educational institutions, schools and colleges should start in July.

According to the Centre’s directives, educational establishments can be opened from August taking into account the circumstances of the time, he added.
