Authorities faced major resistance from residents for the final rites of a coronavirus patient.

Agartala:

Tripura government officials faced strong resistance from the local population for the final rites of a coronavirus patient who committed suicide on Tuesday, sources told GalacticGaming.

The 50-year-old woman reportedly committed suicide at the Agartala GBP Hospital, the state’s main COVID facility.

The patient allegedly took an extreme step due to “paranoia,” sources previously told GalacticGaming.

On Tuesday morning, the woman was found hanged in the bathroom of the hospital’s flu clinic. She was admitted to hospital on Monday for breathing problems and kidney problems, according to official sources.

The last rites of the patient had to be done according to Covid-19 standards.

The woman’s body was first taken to the city’s largest Ramnagar cemetery, but residents opposed it, fearing the spread of the virus.

He was then taken Matinagar. However, here too, the locals opposed it.

Since the woman was from the same locality, the authorities managed to convince people and the burial took place early in the morning on Wednesday.
