The Reserve Bank of India on Sunday became the first central bank in the world to have more than one million followers on its Twitter account.
RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das congratulated his colleagues on the occasion. Mr. Das has a separate Twitter account with 1.37 lakh followers.
“RBI’s Twitter account now reaches one million subscribers. A new milestone. Congratulations to all my RBI colleagues,” he tweeted.

India’s monetary authority beat the US Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank on Twitter to become the most popular central bank on the microblogging site with one million subscribers.
Currently, the RBI descriptor is followed by no less than 10,00,513 people around the world.
