Jaipur:
Revenue collection from the Rajasthan government has dropped by 70% due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Saturday, saying that despite repeated requests, the Center has not announced any grants and program for states.
He also said it was important that “the money is pumped and the purchasing power of people is increased so that demand can be generated.”
“During each videoconference with the Prime Minister, I asked him to grant grants to the states and to grant them a package, but this request was not taken into account,” said Gehlot during a press conference.
The borrowing capacity of the state government has been increased, but the Center is expected to announce a package for all states, he said and alleged that the central government’s economic policies were “bad”.
The Chief Minister said that following the COVID-19 crisis, “our revenue collection has dropped by 70%”.
“We have formed a committee to propose measures to revive economic activities,” he said.
