Rajasthan to present bill against agricultural laws to State Assembly on October 31 (Representationa)

Jaipur:

The government of Rajasthan will present a bill against central agricultural laws to the state assembly on October 31, a top congressional official said on Sunday.

After the Punjab, the government of Rajasthan will pass a bill overturning the “anti-farmer provisions” of the Centre’s three agricultural bills on October 31, National Secretary General (organization) of Congress K C Venugopal tweeted on Sunday.

“INC is committed to protecting our farmers and their rights. Congratulations to the government led by Ashok Gehlot,” tweeted Mr. Venugopal.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had said earlier that his government would introduce a bill against the central agricultural laws modeled on the Punjab.

The Punjab assembly recently unanimously passed four bills and passed a resolution against agricultural laws.

The state assembly, which was adjourned on Aug. 24, will resume its work on Oct. 31, according to a notification issued on Saturday by the Rajasthan legislative secretariat.

Meanwhile, the BJP said farmers were taking losses as the congressional government in the state failed to enforce laws passed by the Center.

BJP spokesman Ramlal Sharma said his party would oppose the government in the assembly.

He said the government has said it will introduce a bill providing three years in prison for traders if they buy crops below the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

The whole country knows that only 8-10% of purchases are made above the MSP and other farmers sell on the open market, he said, adding that if the government introduces such a provision, traders will not come to the state to buy farmers. ‘produce.

“If the government wants to make a decision for the benefit of the farmers, then it should mention in the bill that it will bear a difference in value if the farmers’ products are bought below the MSP by a trader,” Mr. Sharma.
