These units were previously only allowed to sell packaged food.

In an order of September 30, the IRCTC said: “Zones are informed that static catering units (catering places, fast food service, Jan Ahars, cell kitchens and refreshment stalls) operate at 10% of the license fee. with items until September 30 may be allowed to operate until October 31 at LF pro rata of 20 percent of the license fee with the sale of cooked food to take out only. “

No dinner is allowed, the order said.

“In addition, the zones are also informed that contracts that expired after March 23 may also be allowed to operate until October 31 upon payment of a 20 percent license fee,” he said. declared.

Officials said that despite an order placed a few months ago, few sellers have opened their units due to low traffic and restrictions on what items they can sell.

Supplier associations had written to the railways to say they were not ready to start services on platforms due to the current COVID-19 crisis and urged officials not to pressure them for them to open the stalls.

Stands on the platforms have been closed throughout the new coronavirus-induced lockdown, which was imposed on March 25 to verify the spread of the infection.

The railways plan to introduce 200 special trains between Oct. 15 and Nov. 30 to accommodate passengers traveling during the holiday season, Chairman and CEO of the Railway Council VK Yadav said on Thursday.

The railways have suspended all regular passenger trains indefinitely. Regular trains have been suspended since March 22.

It started operating 15 pairs of premium Rajdhani special trains connecting Delhi to different parts of the country on May 12, and 100 pairs of long-distance trains on June 1. In addition, 80 trains started operating on September 12.
