Rahul Gandhi to organize tractor rallies in Punjab and Haryana from October 3-5 to protest against agricultural laws

Chandigarh:

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will hold tractor rallies in Punjab and Haryana from October 3-5 to protest the centre’s new agricultural laws, the party said.

Chief Punjab Minister Amarinder Singh, Secretary General of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and Punjab Affairs Officer Harish Rawat, Chairman of the Pradesh Punjab Congress Committee Sunil Jakhar, and all ministers from State and congressmen will join the protests.

A spokesperson for the Punjab Congress said the tractor rallies should be supported by farmers’ organizations and will cover more than 50 km over three days.

Rallies are expected to begin around 11 a.m. each of the three days and will take place under strict COVID-19 protocols, the spokesperson said.

On October 3, the protest rally will cover a total distance of 22 km, starting with a public meeting in Badni Kalan (Nihal Singh Wala, Moga), before passing through Lopon (Nihal Singh Wala).

The rally will then move to Jagraon (Ludhiana), where it will be received in Chakar, Lakha and Manoke, ultimately culminating in a public meeting Jattpura (Raikot, Ludhiana), the spokesperson said.

On October 4, Rahul Gandhi will drive to Bhawanigarh for a public meeting, before boarding tractors in Samana (Patiala), where receptions will be held in Fatehgarh Chhana and Bahmna, before ending the day with a meeting. public at the Samana grain market.

On October 5, the demonstration will start in Dudhan Sadhan (Patiala) with a public meeting, and the tractors will then travel 10 km to the Pehowa border, from where Rahul Gandhi will enter Haryana, for a series of programs there. -low, said the spokesperson.

According to sources in the Haryana Congress, Rahul Gandhi may address rallies in Kaithal and Pipli in Kurukshetra district along the national highway on October 5, after which he will return to Delhi.

Farmers in Punjab and Haryana have protested against agricultural laws and Congress has demanded their dismantling.
