Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today accused the government of benefiting by making a profit during the coronavirus-induced lockdown when people were in trouble.

The Press Trust of India news agency reported that Rahul Gandhi tagged a local report claiming that Indian railways “were making a profit” by operating “Shramik trains” to transport migrants during the pandemic.

“There are clouds of disease and people are in trouble, but we are trying to take advantage of it – this anti-people government turns disaster into profits and wins,” he tweeted in Hindi.

According to the PTI news agency, the report that Rahul Gandhi shared a photo claimed that the railways had made a “profit” of Rs 428 crore by operating special Shramik trains during the lockdown that carried migrants to their places of origin.

In another tweet, he praised the Himachal government’s efforts to conduct an investigation to select “ a district, a product, ” saying he had suggested this some time ago.

“It’s a good idea. I suggested it some time ago. Its implementation will require a complete change of mindset,” he said on Twitter.
