In the middle of COVID-19, the government banned exports of all types of disinfectants in March (representation)

New Delhi:

On Monday, the government limited its ban on exporting alcohol-based hand sanitizers only to those in containers with dispensing pumps.

In a notification, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade declared that alcohol-based hand sanitizers in any other form or packaging were free for export with immediate effect.

In the midst of the COVID-19 epidemic, the government banned exports of all types of disinfectants in March, but limited the restriction in May to alcohol-based disinfectants only.

Now the export ban has been relaxed, which sources say has been done to boost the domestic manufacturing capabilities of metering pumps.

Most of these pumps are currently imported from China and efforts are underway to encourage national actors to manufacture them locally as part of the Indian Government’s Independent Mission.

A notification dated May 6 is changed “since only alcohol-based hand sanitizers exported in containers with the dosing pump ….. are prohibited for export,” said the branch. of foreign trade.
