PM Modi to launch ‘high-speed’ COVID-19 testing facilities in three cities (file)

New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch “high-speed” COVID-19 testing facilities in three cities – Noida, Mumbai and Kolkata – via video conference on Monday.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), these facilities will increase testing capacity in the country and help strengthen early detection and treatment, thereby helping to control the spread of the pandemic.

“These three high-throughput testing facilities have been strategically installed at ICMR-National Institute for Cancer Prevention and Research, Noida; ICMR-National Reproductive Health Research Institute, Mumbai; and ICMR-National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases, Kolkata. , and will be able to test more than 10,000 samples per day, ”the PMO said in a statement.

Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, along with the chief ministers of Maharashtra, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh are expected to attend the event.

India reported a peak of 48,661 coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 13,85,522, the Union’s Ministry of Health and Family said on Sunday.

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases includes 4,678,82 active cases, 8,855,577 recovered / released / migrated, the ministry added. With 705 new deaths, the cumulative number has reached 32,063.
