Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that it is important that India and the European Union (EU) work together to take full advantage of the benefits of technology.
The Prime Minister said that the 15th India-EU summit was “extremely fruitful” and the discussions on COVID-19, multilateralism, trade and investment, among others.
The EU was represented by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
“Today’s India-EU summit was extremely fruitful. @Eucopresident @CharlesMichel, @EU_Commission, President @vonderleyen and I interacted on a variety of topics, including the COVID-19 situation, multilateralism, the environment , trade, investment, the digital economy and more. “, PM Modi tweeted.
“The future belongs to technology. It is important to work together to promote the use of the latest technology for the benefit of our people,” said the Prime Minister.

Vikas Swarup, secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs (West), said five documents were released after the India-EU summit was concluded.
He said: “The joint political declaration summarizes the deliberations and convergence between the two sides on various dimensions of bilateral cooperation, global issues of common interest and the joint response to the coronaviruses.”
“The India-EU Strategic Partnership: Roadmap for 2025 summarizes the framework for our dialogue and cooperation covering many areas, including foreign and security policy, trade and investment, modernization, sustainable development, research and innovation, education and exchange of researchers, migration and mobility and global governance, “said Mr. Swarup.
Discussions also took place on the India-European Atomic Energy Community agreement on cooperation in research and development in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy which will allow collaboration between the Ministry of Energy atomic and EURATOM on issues such as the civil applications of atomic energy in areas such as (agriculture, health, industry), radioactive waste management, fusion, nuclear safety and security.
“The renewal of the scientific and technological cooperation agreement for a new period of five years will allow the continuation of scientific projects and research exchanges in fields such as biotechnology, clean energy, electric mobility, efficiency energy, marine science, etc., “said Swarup.
The joint declaration on the efficient use of resources and the circular economy will allow dialogue and cooperation in areas such as policies and regulations, the exchange of best practices and capacities and technical exchanges in areas such as the efficiency, waste management, recycling, circular economic models; and in areas such as mobility, ICT, mobility, construction, food and the textile sector.
