Sissu, Himachal Pradesh:
Affirming that a major transformation has been made in the way government works, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today that the new programs are no longer based on the quantum of votes of a region, the only goal now being “ development for all ”.
Addressing his first public rally in more than six months since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, Prime Minister Modi said the inauguration of the Atal Tunnel was part of the central government’s determination that the benefits of development should reach all parts of the country and all person.
Taking a dig on previous congressional governments, he said remember what the previous situation looked like as there were several places like Lahaul Spiti that had to struggle on their own.
“The reason was that some districts did not serve the political interests of some people. Now we are working with a new reflection on “Sabke saath se, sabke vishvaas se, sabka vikaas ho raha hai” (Development for all is done with the help of everyone and with the confidence of all) ”, said Prime Minister Modi at the public meeting in the village of Sissu in the Lahaul-Spiti region of Himachal Pradesh.
“There has been a transformation in the way the government works. Now plans are not made based on how many votes there are in a region. Now the effort is that no Indian is being left behind, ”he said.
The government is committed to providing basic amenities to the Dalits, exploited, destitute, adivasis and everyone else, he said.
The Atal tunnel will put young people in this region in contact with several job opportunities, he said.
“Some will run host families or hotels, others will work as guides. The tunnel will also open up the world to crafts and other products made in the region,” he said.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the strategically important all-weather Atal Tunnel in Rohtang and lashed out at previous congressional-led governments, claiming that strategic projects have been overlooked and defense interests were compromised for years.
The Atal Tunnel, built by the Border Roads Organization, is the longest road tunnel in the world (at an altitude of over 10,000 feet) and reduces the distance between Manali and Leh by 46 km. It also cuts travel time from four to five hours.
