The Prime Minister announced provisional aid of 1,000 crore rupees for West Bengal.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi applauded the courage of the people of West Bengal and Odisha on Sunday against Cyclone Amphan, which devastated the two states earlier this month, and said the country was united with them.

“The courage and bravery with which the people of West Bengal and Odisha have faced the ordeal is commendable. In this hour of crisis, the country is also in unison with the people of these two states of all manners, “said Prime Minister Modi. his radio address “Mann Ki Baat”.

He said on the one hand while we were busy fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, on the other hand we have recently faced natural calamities in parts of eastern India.

“In the past few weeks, we have seen the devastation caused by the super cyclone Amphan in West Bengal and Odisha. Many houses have been razed to the ground. Farmers have also suffered heavy losses. I went to take stock of the situation last week in Odisha and West Bengal, “he said.

On May 22, Prime Minister Modi discussed the situation in West Bengal and Odisha with chief ministers Mamata Banerjee and Naveen Patnaik, two days after the worst cyclone in years had devastated their states.

The Prime Minister announced provisional aid of 1,000 crore rupees for West Bengal.

Prime Minister Modi also announced a gratuity of 2 lakh Rs for the families of each of the dead and 50,000 Rs for the injured. The Prime Minister then flew to Odisha, where he announced financial assistance of another crore Rs 500.
