Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tanzanian President John Pombe Joseph Magufuli on Friday discussed bilateral ties between the two countries and discussed opportunities to further accelerate ties.
They expressed satisfaction with the growing development partnership, educational links, trade and investment flows between India and Tanzania, and discussed the possibilities of further accelerating these trends.
During their telephone conversation, Prime Minister Modi recalled his July 2016 visit to Dar-es-Salaam and stressed the importance that India attaches to its traditionally friendly relations with Tanzania, said a statement.
The Prime Minister reiterated India’s commitment to associate with Tanzania in its development journey, in accordance with the aspirations and needs of the Tanzanian government and people.
PM Modi thanked Tanzanian President Magufuli for the assistance provided by the Tanzanian authorities in the evacuation of Indian citizens from the country following COVID-19.
Prime Minister Modi extended his best wishes to President Magufuli and the people of Tanzania for the presidential and parliamentary elections to be held there this year.
“We had a good conversation with President @MagufuliJP on all aspects of our friendly relations with Tanzania. We also thanked him for taking care of the Indian community in Tanzania during the COVID-19 crisis,” said then tweeted Prime Minister Modi.
India is determined to remain a reliable partner for the development of Tanzania, said the Prime Minister.
