New Delhi:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses BJP workers today, a day after his party won the Assembly elections in the key state of Bihar. The BJP and Bihar Chief Minister Janata Dal (United) under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar have won the state for a second term after a fierce fight from the opposition alliance led by Tejashwi Yadav. Mr Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal became the largest party with 75 seats after the controversial and nail-biting vote count resulted in a draw on Tuesday night. BJP celebrates Bihar’s victory in Delhi. Prime Minister Modi tweeted about the results as Assembly election votes continued to pour in on Tuesday evening. The people of Bihar took a “decisive decision” to give development a chance, Prime Minister Modi tweeted shortly before midnight. The NDA had come of age after 3 a.m.
Here are the main quotes from PM Modi’s address to BJP workers:
- The elections taking place in India are unprecedented around the world. So I would like to thank everyone, the Election Commission and the state officials who ensured that the electoral process was successful and conducted in a peaceful manner.
- There was a time when people read the day after the election that polling stations were looted, voting booths captured, there was violence. But today you are reading information like record turnout, female voters overtake male voters, the vote was peaceful. That in itself says a lot about how India has progressed.
- I want to thank every karyakarta (worker) in BJP for the amazing job you all did in the elections. And of course the strategy, planning and execution by our BJP President JP Nadda ji. Let’s all say this slogan … “Nadda ji, aap aage badho, hum sab aapke saath hain (Nadda ji, go ahead, we are all with you.) “The Indian people see the work you are doing. The Indian people have decided that the only base to elect people will be development and progress.
- Not just in Bihar, but we won in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and even Telangana and Ladakh. BJP won everywhere. The BJP is the only party that really has a national connection with the Indian people. With only 2 deputies and 2 chambers, the BJP is today present in all corners of India.
- There were people who said that roads, railways, airports, better infrastructure, better communication, faster internet, water and electricity 24/7, these things don’t matter in elections. But the elections after the elections, we find that the Indian people are saying loud and clear that these are the things that matter and that it is they who will determine who wins. Those who continue to live in denial and arrogance, you must have heard what’s going on with them … they lose their deposits.
- People see who works, who works day and night, who keeps their promises – this is the BJP. Who stands alongside the Indian people – this is the BJP. Who stands alongside the farmers, working for their improvement and growth – This is the BJP. Who defends the rights of the poor – This is the BJP. Who defends the rights of Dalits and the backward class – This is the BJP. Who stands up and brings justice to women and works for their rights – This is the BJP. Our greatest asset is the trust people have in us. We have to work to make sure we continue to deliver so that reliability remains intact.
- We have all gone through an unprecedented year because of the coronavirus. We’ve all been through trials, but what matters at the end of it all is every life we’ve managed to save. Every life saved is proof of good management in India.
- You must all think Modi talks so much, but what does he say about Bihar? When will he talk about Bihar … I just want to say that Bihar is dear to us. It is important to us.
- Success in Bihar has shown one thing absolutely clear: the key to success is’Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwaas“. It’s the mantra that guides us, and that’s what we’re determined to do, and that’s what rewards us too.
