Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched on Saturday “Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyaan” to create job opportunities in rural India and help find jobs for the hundreds of thousands of workers who return home during the closure of the coronavirus.
Prime Minister who unveiled Khagaria district program in Bihar linked to polls via video conference said he had been “inspired by (migrant workers)” whose heartbreaking attempts to return home during the foreclosure made headlines and led to criticism of the government.
“Migrants will be offered jobs near their homes. Until now, you have used your talent for the advancement of cities. You will now help the development of your villages, your neighborhoods,” said Prime Minister Modi.
“Today, this program is launched from Bihar Khagaria. Our goal is to help people find livelihoods near their homes,” said Prime Minister Modi. “This program was inspired by migrant workers,” he added.
The Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan program includes the creation of infrastructure through public works worth Rs 50,000 crore.
