Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Interior Minister Amit Shah condemned the death of Acharya Shree Purushottampriyadasji Swamishree Maharaj today. Head of one of the divisions of the Swaminarayan sect, which has its temple in the region of Maninagar in Gujarat, the spiritual leader died early Thursday, announced the authorities of the temple. Shree Purushottampriyadasji Swamishree Maharaj was 78 years old.

Interior Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to the spiritual leader. “Deeply saddened to learn of the disappearance of Acharya Shree Purushottampriyadasji Swamishree Maharaj ji. A revered saint who has blessed and enlightened millions of lives. His divine teachings and his selfless contribution to the welfare of society have no parallel” wrote the Minister of the Interior on Twitter.
