Affirming that India is at the forefront of ongoing international efforts to defeat the coronavirus, President Ram Nath Kovind said on Wednesday that global cooperation is needed to effectively tackle the pandemic.

At a ceremony in which President Kovind accepted the credentials of the heads of mission from New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Uzbekistan, he said that India had deep-rooted ties with the three countries and had the privilege of sharing with them a common vision of the main global issues. problems.

The president noted that strengthening global cooperation is the need of the hour to effectively fight the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan.

“In this context, he said that India was at the forefront of the international efforts underway to overcome the pandemic,” he said.

Expressing his happiness at the dynamic state of relations with the three countries, President Kovind stressed that as a member of the United Nations Security Council for the period 2021-2022, India was impatient to work with the community to strengthen world peace and prosperity.

“It was the second time that the presentation of credentials to Rashtrapati Bhavan was done by videoconference following the COVID-19 pandemic,” the statement said.

The President had received the credentials of envoys from seven countries by video conference in May this year.

David Pine, the New Zealand High Commissioner, Sir Philip Barton, the United Kingdom High Commissioner, and Akhatov Dilshod Khamidovich, the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan presented their credentials to the President during Wednesday’s ceremony.

President Kovind extended his warmest wishes to the envoys upon their appointment.
