According to a Russia Today report, around 8 p.m. local time in Minnesota, some departments noted that 911 service had been restored, but outages appeared to continue in various counties in Nevada and elsewhere.
Previously, Russia Today reported that police and sheriff departments in Illinois, Nevada, Arizona, Ohio, Delaware, Minnesota, Indiana, Colorado, Pennsylvania and of Minnesota noted problems with their emergency calling systems Monday (local time). They asked residents to use alternate numbers as they worked to correct the problem, allegedly caused by a technical failure in Microsoft’s Azure cloud services.
As Microsoft was previously quoted as saying that a “subset of customers in the Azure Public and Azure Government clouds may experience errors,” it is believed to have caused the 911 outages.
