Locust attacks: several States are on alert.

New Delhi:

All government assistance to those affected by the locust attacks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today as India faces its worst locust swarm in three decades. Seven states – Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana – have reported crop destruction in the past two weeks due to bugs.

“At a time when the eastern regions of the country are facing the consequences of Cyclone Amphan, several states in the country have reported attacks by locusts. These attacks reminded us of the damage that a small creature can do. These attacks can last for several days , affect large parts, “said Prime Minister Modi in his monthly radio address – Mann Ki Baat.

“Whether it is the central government, the states or the agricultural department, the administration uses modern technologies to combat locusts. We take note of the innovative measures. I am convinced that we can all tackle this situation together,” he added.

“Aid will be provided to all those affected,” he said.
