Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the efforts of the Center, states and local authorities on Saturday to contain the COVID-19 situation in Delhi and ordered that a similar approach be adopted with other state governments to control the pandemic in the entire NCR region.
He made the remarks at a meeting to review the situation of coronaviruses in the country, said a statement from the Prime Minister’s office.
The Prime Minister recalled the need to respect personal hygiene and social discipline in public places.
Prime Minister Modi said that awareness of the pandemic should be widely disseminated and that there should be an ongoing focus on preventing the spread of the infection.
According to him, there is no room for complacency in this regard.
PM Modi also ordered that real-time national monitoring and advice be provided to all affected states and locations with high test positivity. “The Prime Minister appreciated the concerted efforts of the Center, the state and local authorities to contain the pandemic in Delhi,” the statement said.
“He further ordered that a similar approach be adopted with other state governments to contain the COVID-19 pandemic throughout the NCR region,” he added. Interior Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and cabinet secretary, among others, attended the review meeting.
During the meeting, the “successful example” of surveillance and home care through “Dhanvantri Rath” in Ahmedabad was highlighted and it was ordered that it could be emulated in other places, according to the press release.
