Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a ‘jan andolan’ campaign on Thursday for appropriate COVID behavior in view of upcoming festivals, the winter season and the opening of the economy.
The prime minister will launch the campaign through a tweet, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The campaign will be launched with the aim of encouraging the participation of people (Jan Andolan) and it strives to be a high intensity, low cost campaign with the key message of ‘wear a mask, follow physical distance, maintain hand hygiene ” ”.
The campaign will be launched in view of the upcoming festivals and winter season as well as opening up the economy, the statement said.
A COVID-19 commitment will be made by all and a concerted action plan will be implemented by central government ministries, departments, state governments and Union territories.
Highlights of the campaign include region-specific targeted communication in high workload districts, simple and easily understandable messages to reach every citizen, nationwide dissemination using all media platforms, banners and posters in public places involving frontline workers and targeting beneficiaries of government plans.
The campaign also includes setting up billboards, murals, electronic billboards at government premises, engaging local and national influencers to get the message across, driving mobile vans to regular awareness raising, audio messages, brochures and awareness brochures.
It would also involve seeking the support of local cable operators to spread COVID messages and coordinate a media campaign across all platforms for effective awareness and impact.
