New Delhi:
A day after leading a dharna at Raj Bhawan in Jaipur, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Saturday that if necessary, Congressmen would meet with the president and hold a sit-in outside the Prime Minister’s residence to resolve the crisis in the state.
At a meeting of the Legislative Assembly of Congress (CLP) Party, Gehlot said the plan was to do a ground test to prove the majority of congressional MPs and allies were with him in the fight for power.
“He said the government had a majority and wanted to go to assembly,” said a statement released by chief congressional whip Mahesh Joshi after the PLC meeting.
The PLC meeting was held at the hotel where the deputies of the Gehlot camp are locked up for days.
“The chief minister asked us to be prepared to stay longer at the hotel. If necessary, he said, we would go to meet the president and also organize a DNA in front of the prime minister’s residence,” said a party leader.
