Jammu:
Jammu and Kashmir police chief Dilbag Singh warned Thursday that Pakistan would try to infiltrate more terrorists and also give impetus to violence in the Kashmir valley and elsewhere, given the deadlock between the armies of India and China in Ladakh.
The director general of the police, Jammu and Kashmir, chaired on Thursday a high-level meeting of the officers to examine the scenario of security of the territory of the Union, in particular at the borders.
Cross-border infiltration attempts are being made continuously from Pakistan even during the pandemic and we must be very vigilant to thwart such attempts, he said.
According to reports, more than 300 terrorists are on launch pads along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, ready to infiltrate Union territory to increase violence.
“Given the deadlock in Ladakh, Pakistan will try to infiltrate more terrorists and will also give impetus to the violence in the Kashmir Valley and elsewhere,” Singh said at the meeting here.
He said that the border with Pakistan requires special attention given the evolution of Ladakh.
DGP said there are reports that terrorist outfits in Pakistan – Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and others – are joining forces to create mischief in Jammu and Kashmir.
He also stated that there are greater infiltration challenges that we must prepare for in the changed environment. He ordered the officers to look after the vital facilities and also to review the minority guards.
Singh also said that the security presence on the road network has been strengthened by the introduction of mobile patrols and that the number of nakas has also increased.
He said that police, central paramilitary and military personnel continue their successful operations in the counterinsurgency grid and at the borders.
More than 300 terrorists are on the launch pads across the LoC in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (Pok), waiting to infiltrate the Indian side, said Singh last month.
The Indian military is taking steps to “recalibrate” its counter-infiltration grid and counter-insurgency strategies to control the intrusion, he said.
