The Rajasthan Congress notified 19 party leaders of their absence from major party meetings amid the crisis triggered by the Sachin Pilot revolt. Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot’s government was pushed to the brink of collapse following the rebellion by Pilot, who however declared that he would not join the BJP.
Congress sent the notices by text, WhatsApp, email, and mail – and to ensure that the “missing” leaders did not escape notice, the documents in Hindi and English were pasted on the walls. outside their homes.
“Unfortunately, it was noted that some members deliberately chose not to attend despite full knowledge of the event,” said Congress in the notice.
“You are requested to attend the meeting of the Legislative Party of the Congress. Any failure to participate without providing prior written and valid reasons to the undersigned will be considered as clear and categorical proof of your intention to dissociate yourself from the National Congress and its ideology and will call for action in accordance with the relevant statute and the Constitution of India, “said Congress in its opinion.
Leaders were asked to respond to the notice in two days.
Since Sunday, Mr. Pilot has been in Delhi – and in a seaside resort close to Gurgaon – as he plans his next move with around twenty Congressmen. They have accompanied him so far after his revolt against Congress.
Pilot has ruled out a resolution that does not imply promotion to the position of chief minister. The young leader accused Congress veteran Ashok Gehlot of being brazenly frightened and humiliated since the election of Congress in Rajasthan in December 2018.
