Veteran actor Dilip Kumar and his wife, actress Saira Banu, will not be celebrating their wedding anniversary on Sunday, she said in a message posted to the actor’s official Twitter account on Friday. Dilip Kumar, 97, recently lost brothers Ehsan Khan and Aslam Khan. They died from COVID-19. Citing the loss of my family, Saira Banu wrote in her post: “October 11 is always the happiest day of my life. Dilip Saheb married me on that day and made my cherished dreams come true. This year we let’s not celebrate. You all know it. We have lost two of our brothers, Ehsan Bhai and Aslam Bhai. Unprecedented unrest due to the COVID-19 pandemic has claimed the lives of many families and caused grief in many families. In the present circumstances, we ask all of you, our dear friends, to pray for the safety and well-being of each. God be with us all. Stay safe. “
On August 21, Aslam Khan, 88, died at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, where he was admitted after testing positive for COVID-19. A few days after his death, on September 3, Ehsan Khan, 90, also died of the coronavirus.

Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu were married on October 11, 1966. The couple starred in films such as Bairaag, Sagina Mahato, Gopi and Duniya. Last month, the actor posted a pic of himself and Saira Banu paired up in pink outfits and wrote: “Rose. Favorite shirt. God’s mercy on us all.”

Dilip Kumar is best known for his performances in classics such as Kohinoor, Mughal-e-Azam, Shakti, Naya Daur and Ram aur shyam among many others. He was last seen in the 1998 film Qila.
