Valmiki Nagar:

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday backed the population-based reservation for castes, but said it could only be implemented once census data was available.

Addressing a voting rally, he also attacked the RJD over its record on law and order, and ridiculed Tejashwi Yadav’s promise of 10 lakh jobs.

He has repeatedly told the population that his government has worked for the development of Bihar with the cooperation of the central government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The seat of Valmiki Nagar Lok Sabha will be voted on by ballot on November 7. The by-election was made necessary there because of the death of JD (U) MP Baidyanath Mahto.

The party led by Mr. Kumar appointed Mahto’s son, Sunil Kumar, from headquarters.

And with regard to the question of the population which is not decided until after the census and this decision (on the census) is not in our hands. We would like this reserve to be proportional to the caste population. We don’t have two opinions on this, “he said.

Although in his speech on Thursday, Kumar did not clarify whether he was talking about caste-based census data, he often demanded that the 2021 census highlight such data.

He has said many times in the past that all castes should get a reservation proportional to their population.

He said people were giving him 15 years to serve and if they elected his government again, he would go out into the public to discuss issues that weren’t addressed and work on them.

On Yadav’s promise to sanction 10 lakh government jobs at his first cabinet meeting, Mr Kumar said: “I say one crore of students passed 10 + 2 exams (intermediate exam) in the 10 years, why not give them all a job? “

“Will the funds come from the sky for these jobs?”

Mr Kumar claimed that when the RJD was in power for 15 years, it only gave jobs to 95,000 people, while during his reign of 15, six lakh people found jobs and other opportunities. work were also offered.

He also addressed a rally at the assembly headquarters in Sikta, where he said, “Some people want to create discord in society, but I ask you to live in harmony with your hands joined.”

He said once again that for him all of Bihar is a family, while “some people” work only for their family which includes husband, wife and children.

His barb was apparently aimed at his pet peeve Lalu Prasad.

He said some people were “upset” with him for imposing a ban.

He said earlier that there had been numerous incidents of killings and massacres, but that his government had controlled crime and established the rule of law.

He said his government has provided development as well as justice for all sections of society, including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, Extremely Backward Classes and Mahadalits.
