Nitish Kumar said on Sunday that creating 10 lakh jobs would cost the state 1.44 lakh crore per year.

Patna:

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Sunday that creating 10 lakh jobs, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s main poll pledge, would cost Rs 1.44 lakh crore per year, and questioned whether his rival would put aside other development work or delay salaries to implement his pledge.

Addressing voters in five assembly segments through a virtual rally called “Nishchay Samwad,” Kumar also said his government had changed the state’s industrial policy and that “we will be able to invite several industries ”.

Mr Yadav pledged he would sanction 10 lakh government jobs at his very first cabinet meeting if the “Mahagathbandhan” was elected to power.

“It is impossible, they will not have the chance to rule,” Kumar said. “But for what he (Tejashwi) said, it will cost the treasury Rs 1.44 lakh crore per year … Should they put all other development work aside?”

He said earlier that no one was used to receiving salaries on time and recalled that several teachers and university professors told the chief minister during his in 2005 that they were not receiving salaries. on time.

“We’ve fixed this. Now what do they want to do? Again, not pay the salaries? Won’t there be other (development) work?” Said Mr. Kumar.

“Where are they going to create the jobs from? Where are they going to create the jobs? And where is the money?” he added. The chief minister said the promise was made simply to “confuse” society.

Responding to the lingering question from the NDA on how to manage funds for its 10 promised jobs, Mr Tejashwi previously said at a rally that Bihar has a budget of “Rs 2.13 crore lakh and the Nitish government Kumar manages to spend only 60 per cent. There are 80,000 crore rupees left. “

Attacking previous RJD governments, led by party supremo Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi, Mr Kumar said: “What was the budget when his parents (Tejashwi) ran the state? Their maximum budget was less than Rs 24,000 crore and today we have raised it to Rs 2.11 lakh crore. “

Mr Kumar, who has been constantly targeted by Mr Yadav for saying that Bihar lacks industrialization because it is a “landlocked” state, said his government had significantly changed industrial policy.

“We will be able to attract multiple industries. We are working to ensure that no industry comes out of state due to coercion,” he said.

The chief minister of Bihar also said that the state government is working for fair and inclusive development. “We’ve never ignored anyone. Some vote for us, some don’t. But we serve everyone.”

He praised his government’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, saying the state’s screening rate was 85,587 per million, 6,845 more than the national average, and that Bihar had an impressive recovery rate by 96%.

Mr Kumar said the new generation should be informed that “before there was ‘jungle raj’ in Bihar (during the reign of the RJD), and we were able to establish the rule of law.”

He said that under his government, the state achieved a growth rate of over 12 percent and per capita income increased by 10 percent.
