Riteish Deshmukh remembers the deceased filmmaker Nishikant Kamat by sharing several posts on social media on Monday. Mr Kamat, who is believed to be suffering from chronic liver disease, died on Monday at the age of 50 in a hospital in Hyderabad. According to the ANI news agency, the filmmaker was taken to AIG hospitals in Gachibowli, Hyderabad on July 31, where he was treated for jaundice and abdominal distension. Riteish Deshmukh, who was also a close friend of the late filmmaker and starred in his 2014 film Marathi Lai Bhaari, shared some throwback photos with the late filmmaker on Twitter. In his eulogy, Riteish wrote: “You broke my heart Nishi.”

Riteish Deshmukh, in a separate tweet, shared a return photo and wrote: “I will miss you my friend. Nishikant Kamat. Rest in peace.”

Meanwhile, Riteish wife and actress Genelia D’Souza, who starred in Nishikant Kamat films Lai Bhaari and Force, released a moving tribute to the director. She tweeted: “Nishikant Kamat, you were one of a kind. I found a life coach in you. I live so much we chatted and I live knowing that you were such an amazing soul and I am so happy of our ways I will miss you dear Nishi. RIP. “

Earlier Monday morning, Riteish Deshmukh had called for restraint after some media reports prematurely announced the filmmaker’s death. “Ask all respected media houses that reported on Nishikant Kamat to provide clarification, please,” read an excerpt from the actor’s tweet.

Nishikant Kamat the filmography was an amalgamation of critically acclaimed films as well as such hits as Drishyam, with Ajay Devgn and Tabu, Madaari with the late actor Irrfan Khan, Mumbai Meri Jaan, Force, and Rocky handsome. The filmmaker has also directed several Marathi films.
