Calcutta:
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested another person from Murshidabad district in West Bengal for his alleged involvement in a Pakistan-sponsored al Qaeda module, a senior official said on Sunday.
The NIA apprehended Shamim Ansari from his residence in Jalangi on Saturday, he said.
“We found out about his involvement with those arrested earlier. We seized his cell phone. He is being questioned,” the official said.
The agency had previously arrested nine people – six from West Bengal and three from Kerala – for their association with the Pakistan-sponsored al Qaeda module.
A preliminary investigation suggested that Ansari had already traveled to Kerala for work and returned to his hometown.
