New Delhi:
The Indian Navy said on Friday that it had inducted a sophisticated anti-torpedo lure system called “Maareech”, capable of being fired from all frontline ships.
“Maareech” was designed and developed in a native way by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and it is able to detect, locate and neutralize incoming torpedoes.
In a statement, the Navy said: “The prototype of this system installed on board a designated naval platform had passed all user evaluation tests and demonstrated functionality in accordance with the qualification requirements of naval personnel.”
This enthronement not only demonstrates the joint determination of the Indian Navy and DRDO towards the indigenous development of defense technologies, but also gave a boost to the government initiative “Make in India” and to the determination of the country. to become “atmanirbhar” (self-linking) in niche technologies, said the Navy.
Bharat Electronics Limited, a defense power supply, will begin production of the decoy system, the Navy said.
“The Indian Navy’s anti-submarine warfare capability received a major boost today with the signing of a contract for the advanced” Maareech “torpedo lure system capable of being fired from all frontline warships, “he added.
