Woman told police she was raped in front of her 5-year-old son (representational)

The National Commission for Women asked the Kerala police on Sunday for a report on the alleged rape of a woman by her husband and friends in front of their five-year-old child.

The 25-year-old woman was sexually assaulted after being forced to drink alcohol, police said.

NCW learned about the incident suo motu and expressed concern over the serious violation of the safety and security of women in the state, which it said “cannot be ignored and must be dealt with immediately” .

“The Commission was informed by the police superintendent of Thiruvananthapuram (Rural) that six defendants were arrested in the case. NCW was also informed that the medical examination of the victim had been carried out and that the survivor and her children were in police custody, “NCW said in a statement.

“The Commission also wrote to R Sreelekha IPS, DGP, Kerala asking him to inform him as soon as possible of the report on the follow-up given to the case until the filing of the indictment”, he said. -he adds.
