New Delhi:

A man who escaped custody while taken to a hospital in Nagpur city, Maharashtra, was arrested on Monday in the Neb Sarai district of south Delhi, officials said. .

The accused was identified as Ceejo Chandran, from Kerala.

He was arrested by Nagpur police under the Maharashtra Organized Crime Control Act (MCOCA), they said.

Chandran had escaped from police custody on May 16 when he was taken to hospital for treatment. He came to Delhi with the help of a few truck drivers. Acting on reports that Chandran may reside in the Dakshinpuri area, police set up a trap near MB Road, Ambedkar Nagar and arrested him, officials said.

Several criminal cases have been registered against him in the police stations of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, they said.
