Singer-songwriter Wajid Khan of music director duo Sajid-Wajid, popular for his work on films by superstar Salman Khan such as “Wanted”, “Dabangg” and “Ek Tha Tiger”, died Monday morning in a hospital out of town due to complications from kidney infection. He was 42 years old.

Music composer Salim Merchant, who confirmed the news of Wajid’s death, said the composer was hospitalized a few days ago at Surana Hospital in Chembur where his condition deteriorated.

“He had several problems. He had a kidney problem and had a transplant some time ago. But recently he learned of a kidney infection … He was on a ventilator for four days after his situation started to get worse. Kidney infection was the start, then he became critical, “Salim told PTI.

The duo of music composers made their Bollywood debut with Salman’s 1998 film “Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya” and then worked on various actor films, including “Garv”, “Tere Naam”, “Tumko Na Bhool Payenge “,” Partner “and the popular franchise” Dabangg “.

Wajid also played for Salman in binders like “Mera He Jalwa”, “Fevicol Se” and for Akshay Kumar in “Chinta Ta Chita Chita” from the movie “Rowdy Rathore”, among others. He recently co-composed the songs of Salman “Pyaar Karona” and “Bhai Bhai”, which the actor published on his YouTube channel.

Wajid and his brother Sajid have been mentors in reality TV shows “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2012” and “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar”.

The duo of composers also marked the theme song of IPL 4, “Dhoom Dhoom Dhoom Dhadaka”, which was sung by Wajid.

Shortly after the composer’s death was announced, many members of the film’s fraternity went on Twitter to pay tribute.

Actress Priyanka Chopra said she will always remember Wajid’s smile.

“The only thing I will always remember is the laughter of Wajid bhai. Always smiling. I left too soon. My condolences to his family and to all those who are in mourning. Rest in peace my friend. You are in my thoughts and prayers, “she posted on Twitter.

Actor Parineeti Chopra said that Wajid was one of the “most handsome” men in the industry.

“Always sing. All heart. Always positive. Wajid bhai will be truly missed,” she tweeted.

Actor Varun Dhawan shared a photo of his director-father David Dhawan with Wajid and remembered that the musician was one of the most positive people in Bollywood.

“Shocked to hear this news @ wajidkhan7 bhai was extremely close to me and my family. He was one of the most positive people to be around. We will miss you Wajid bhai thanks for the music,” he wrote.

Music singer-songwriter Vishal Dadlani said he was “heartbroken” after hearing the news.

“@SajidMusicKhan and @ wajidkhan7 are close and loyal friends. The kind who could see the light come on and show themselves in our studio in the middle of the night just to meet, talk and share a laugh. I can’t believe Wajid and I will never speak again, “he wrote.

Singer-songwriter Shankar Mahadevan said he was still unable to come to terms with the news of Wajid’s disappearance.

“Shocking! Goodbye dear brother … I love you … until we meet on the other side! Pray for your peaceful journey Wajid bhai,” he tweeted.

Singer Javed Ali wrote: “Feeling deeply saddened after hearing shocking news of the sudden disappearance of Wajid Khan. May his soul rest in peace. My sincere condolences to his family. May Allah give strength to the family . “
