A quick glance at the official Mumbai Police Twitter account will bring you to the humorous posts shared by them, which often have references to Bollywood and popular TV shows. Mumbai police shared an image from the popular 1994 film on TuesdayAndaz Apna Apna. The tweet shared by Mumbai Police features one of the most comical antagonists of all time – Teja (played by Paresh Rawal). The still was on stage when the twins Shyam Gopal Bajaj aka Teja and Ram Gopal are together in the prison and Amar and Prem (Aamir Khan and Salman Khan), in an effort to save Ram Gopal, eventually unlock Shyam Gopal.
Mumbai police chose Teja’s most popular dialogue “Teja main hoon, brand idhar hai“and changed it to the current time. The caption on the meme read:”Teja main hoon, idhar hai mask,“with a picture of Paresh Rawal wearing a Photoshopped mask and a slogan” Smart Boy! The tweet was accompanied by the hashtags #MaskApnaApna, #WearAMask, #MaskProtects and #MaskIsAMust.

This is not the first time that Andaz Apna Apna was used for a PSA. Last year, when the film ran for 25 years, the Maharashtra police used the “Kachcha khiladi lagta hai“dialogue to broadcast a message a simple message -” Do not drive three seater. “ICYMI, this is the message we are referring to:

Andaz Apna Apna opened in theaters in 1994 and it didn’t perform well at the box office. However, it has achieved cult status over the years. The film resonates with the courtesy of the current generation, it’s hilarious one-liners, energetic songs and an impressive star cast.
Andaz Apna Apna was directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and also featured an ensemble cast of Paresh Rawal, Shakti Kapoor, Shehzad Khan, Viju Khote, and Javed Khan, with cameo appearances by Govinda and Juhi Chawla.
