India first reported more than 50,000 cases of coronavirus in 24 hours, according to government data. This is the largest one-day peak in cases to date. At least 52,123 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 15.83,792. Government data shows that 775 people have died in the past 24 hours; the total death toll is now 34,968. The total number of people who have recovered is 10.20,582 and the cure rate is 64.43%, while the positivity rate is 11.67% . The total of samples tested so far this morning is 1,8190,382, while 4,466,642 samples were tested on Wednesday.

The five states that have reported the largest spike of cases in the past 24 hours are Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh. Government data shows that 66.41% of the total cases reported in the past 24 hours are from Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh.
