A special train for workers stranded due to national restrictions stopped briefly in a Bihar village recently, and train passengers were overwhelmed when large numbers of locals came to offer them food. The video which was shared on Twitter by the chief minister of Mizoram, Zoramthang, who found the gesture comforting. “India is beautiful when it is flooded with love,” he tweeted with the clip.

He reminded his subscribers of a similar clip he shared three days ago with people of his condition to help those affected by the floods in Assam. “A few days after the stranded Mizos offered their food to the flood victims on the way home, a brief hiatus from their #ShramikSpecialTrain at #Begusarai Bihar witnessed good #Samaritans offering them food in return! goodness. with #Love, “he tweeted with the clip.

The nearly 30-second clip of Bihar, probably captured on a mobile phone, shows a group of villagers rushing to the train with packets of food. We see three young men delivering a basket full of food to a passenger from a train window.

“Tears of joy! It is the spirit of India. Thank you for sharing sir,” wrote one of Zoramthang’s disciples in response.

Thursday, the chief minister of Mizoram tweeted a clip of a train from Bengaluru passing from Assam, victim of the floods. The passengers were people from Mizoram returning home. They tried to help the people of Assam by distributing food packages to them through the windows as the train passed. “The next viral video from WhatsApp talks about Mizos stranded on the way to Bangalore sharing their food along the railroad tracks for those affected by the floods on their way to #Mizoram and, it just made my day!” Zoramthang’s tweet read.

Among the others who were touched by the visuals was the award-winning national director Utpal Borpujari. “#Mizos regains our hearts. Repeating that, if everyone behaves like Mizos, India will be a much better place. #Mizoram #AssamFloods #coronavirusinindia # COVID19India”, he tweeted.

The comforting visuals come at a time when scary images and clips from across the country capture the plight of those affected by the national foreclosure. The Lakhs were blocked when a national ban was announced in March to fight the coronavirus epidemic.

Several clips showed them walking hundreds of kilometers to their homes. Distressing visuals also showed passengers of Shramik trains – special trains started by a center for stranded migrants – fighting for food.
