Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, in an interview with Rohit Khilnani of GalacticGaming, revealed that he sued actor Sushant Singh Rajput for two films and, in fact, would have cast him in the two-part Gangs Of Wasseypur if only they had met sooner. The following films didn’t work out, Mr. Kashyap revealed, as actors often prioritize big banner offers. “Sushant has had great success. He made choices himself,” Kashyap said, commenting on the “validation” actors receive by appearing in a Yash Raj or Dharma film. Mr Kashyap said he met Sushant right after finalizing the casting for the 2012 film Wasseypur Gangs – he would have included Sushant in his film if he had met him earlier, Mr Kashyap said. He then put Sushant in touch with Abhishek Kapoor and that’s how the actor was cast in the 2013 film. Kai Po Che!, which marked her Bollywood debut.
Mr. Kashyap, who co-produced the 2014 film Hasee Toh Phasee with Dharma Productions, said the film was originally intended for Sushant before signing Yash Raj Films’ Shuddh Desi Romance. “Hasee Toh Phasee we started with Sushant. Then we went to Parineeti (Chopra) … He signed up with YRF and gave up Hasee Toh Phasee, a movie from a foreigner, because he wanted validation from YRF. It’s with each actor. I have no hard feelings, ”Anurag Kashyap said.
Anurag Kashyap also revealed that he had contacted Sushant before Mukkabaaz but the actor had been booked for the Dharma Productions movie Drive. Mr. Kashyap did Mukkabaaz with his Gangs Of Wasseypur actor Vine and Kumar Singh. “I wasn’t upset. I went on and did Mukkabaaz. It’s not like anyone is upset. I’m so used to this, ”Mr. Kashyap said. This validation you are looking for. And we can’t blame you. It’s a choice you made. So you also have to face it. The boy was very talented. But at that point he chose Drive on a movie I was making. Because he is dying to work with Dharma, ”Mr. Kashyap added. Produced by Karan Johar,Drive is an action thriller released on Netflix last year, in which Sushant co-starred with Jacqueline Fernandez.
