Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan – whose government recorded a crucial victory in state bypassing by winning 19 out of 28 seats – hailed his wife as his “strength and inspiration” in a shared tweet this morning.
“You are the support of every victory in my life. You are the source of my strength and inspiration. If you are with me, there will always be victory,” the Chief Minister wrote in Hindi.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan was responding to an early morning tweet from his wife, Sadhna Singh Chouhan, who congratulated him on the result of the bypasses. She posted a photo that shows her leaning over a table to give her a party candy and wrote, “Congratulations on the win”.

The BJP won 19 of the 28 seats in total where bypassing took place in Madhya Pradesh, decimating Congress which only managed to secure 8 seats.
The ballot took place on November 3 on the 28 seats. By-elections were made necessary following the resignation of 25 MPs and the death of three lawmakers earlier. In March this year, 22 congressmen resigned from the State Assembly, paving the way for BJP’s Shivraj Singh Chouhan to take the post of Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for the fourth time.
The counting of the votes, which began at 8 a.m., finally ended around 3 a.m. on Wednesday.
Mr. Chouhan called the verdict a victory for the people of Madhya Pradesh, saying, “This is the victory of development! It is the victory of faith! It is the victory of social justice! It is the victory of democracy! This is the victory of the people of Madhya Pradesh! People have given their blessings to BJP and expressed their confidence in us. I pledge that nothing affects the well-being of the state. “
