Bhopal:
The Bahujan Samaj (BSP) party on Wednesday released its third slate of candidates for the assembly by-pass in Madhya Pradesh which will be held with 28 seats on November 3, a top party leader said.
With this, BSP has so far announced 27 nominees, BSP President Ramakant Pippal told PTI.
Malhera is the only constituency where the Mayawati-led party has yet to announce a candidate.
Most of the seats that the BSP will contest on its own initiative will fall in the Gwalior-Chambal belt, where the party had received significant support in the last elections.
In the latest list, BSP announced the candidacy of Rajendra Singh Kanshana from Dimni, Rahul Dandotia from Sumaoli, Dr Virendra Sharma from Mungaoli, Rajesh Nagar from Hatpipalya, Om Prakash Malviya from Badnawar, Gopal Prasad Ahirwar from Surkhi (all general seats ).
While Strom Billin Bhandari is the party’s choice from the seat of Ashoknagar (SC), he gave tickets to Bhul Singh Patel of Nepanagar and Sushil Singh Paraste of Anuppur (Both ST), Pippal said.
Former Congress Minister Mahendra Boudh is the BSP candidate from Bhander (SC) headquarters.
In the 2018 Assembly elections, the PASB won two seats in the 230 Assembly members.
The bypasses became necessary due to the resignations of 22 MPs, mainly from the Jyotiraditya Scindia camp, in March of this year, which led to the collapse of Kamal Nath’s government. They then joined the BJP with Mr. Scindia.
Three other lawmakers later resigned from Congress. Three other seats are vacant due to the death of sitting deputies, which brings the effective strength of the Assembly down to 202.
The BJP has announced candidates for all seats linked to the waiver.
