Joe Biden tweeted the video this morning.

Weeks before the US election, Democratic challenger Joe Biden once again attacked US President Donald Trump in a short video he posted on Twitter about wearing masks amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.

A short clip he shared shows Mr. Biden putting on a black mask as Donald Trump takes off his white mask in an adjacent frame. “Masks matter. They save lives,” the video caption read.

The message came shortly after the US president invited further criticism for removing his mask immediately after returning to the White House. He left the hospital this morning after receiving four days of emergency Covid treatment at the facility.

Shortly before his release, Donald Trump emphasized in a tweet: “Don’t be afraid of Covid”.

“I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 pm. I feel really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let him rule your life. We have developed some very good drugs and knowledge under the Trump administration. I feel better than 20 years ago! (sic) ”, we read in his tweet.

His return to the White House was flashed on news channels. He climbed the steps to the majestic balcony of the south portico and evidently took off his mask, saluting the departing Marine One, AFP news agency reported.

The US President and First Lady Melania Trump tested positive last week. Trump was hospitalized the next day.

Joe Biden, however, suggested that Trump’s comments about not being afraid of Covid were irresponsible. “Tell that to the 205,000 families who have lost someone,” he reportedly told AFP news agency.

“I hope the president, after going through what he’s been through – and I’m glad he seems to be doing pretty well – will communicate the right lesson to the American people: masks matter,” said the ex-US said the vice president, shortly before Trump was released from hospital.

“These masks, they matter. It matters, it saves lives, it prevents the spread of disease.”

The United States, the most affected by the pandemic with more than 74 lakh cases, will vote to elect its next president on November 3.
