New Delhi:

Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia tested negative for coronavirus and was released from hospital. Doctors have advised Mr Sisodia to rest for at least one more week before resuming his duties.
On Monday, Mr Sisodia said he “was feeling a lot better”. “If all goes well, I will be free from the hospital in a day or two,” he said.

Doctors had said the deputy chief minister, who had been diagnosed with both Covid infection and dengue fever, had shown improvement. Mr Sisodia was undergoing plasma therapy for the coronavirus at a private hospital in the city.

Mr Sisodia, who tested positive on September 14, was initially admitted to Lok Nayak Jayaprakash public hospital after developing a fever and complaining of difficulty breathing.

At the time of his admission, doctors said he also had low levels of blood platelets.

“After suffering from a mild fever, I took a coronavirus test and tested positive. I isolated myself. I don’t have a fever or any other problem at the moment, I’m absolutely fine. With your prayers I am sure I will return to work after I regain my health, ”he tweeted in Hindi.

He had initially self-isolated at his official residence before his condition worsened and he was admitted to the LNJP hospital.

According to Covid’s care guidelines, patients who do not present with comorbidities and do not belong to a vulnerable age group (under 10 or over 60) have been informed of the home quarantine.

Mr. Sisodia is 48 years old.

The next day, hospital officials said Mr Sisodia had also tested positive for dengue. Later that same day, he was transferred to Max Private Hospital at Saket in Delhi, where he underwent plasma therapy.

Mr Sisodia, along with other ministers in the Delhi government, is actively involved in the fight against the virus, participating in virtual media briefings, inspecting Covid facilities and overseeing the management of the campaign to contain and suppress the disease .

The national capital is the sixth most affected region in the country with more than 2.7 lakh confirmed cases to date. Of those, more than 5,200 are virus-related deaths and about 27,000 are active cases.
