A court on Friday sentenced a man to seven years in prison for killing a protester in an unrest two years ago.
Additional District Sessions Judge Om Veer Singh also fined the defendant 55,000 rupees after convicting him under section 304 (culpable homicide not constituting murder) of the IPC and the Arms Act.
According to government lawyer Omprakash Upadhyay, during the unrest against the alleged dilution of the SC / ST (Atrocity Prevention) law here on April 2, 2018, a Dalit protester, Amresh, was shot dead.
