We stand by the country and our armed forces in this hour of crisis, said Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata:

West Bengal’s chief minister, Mamata Banerjee, welcomed the Centre’s decision to convene a multi-stakeholder meeting on June 19 to discuss the situation on the Indo-Chinese border in Ladakh on Wednesday and said his party stood by the country at this hour of crisis.

“We support the country and our armed forces in this hour of crisis and fully support the decision to convene a multi-stakeholder meeting. Technically, it is a good decision,” said the head of Congress at Trinamool (TMC).

“We do not want to comment on foreign affairs issues. Let the Union government decide,” said the chief minister, when asked about the border deadlock with China.

Twenty members of the Indian army, including a colonel, were killed Monday evening in a clash with Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh, the largest military confrontation in more than five decades that has considerably aggravated the already unstable dead end at the border between the two neighbors.
