Mumbai Guardian Minister Aslam Shaikh tweeted that he had tested positive for the coronavirus. The Congress leader asked everyone who came “in close contact” with him to be tested immediately.
Stating that he had no flu-like symptoms associated with COVID-19, the Minister of Fisheries and Textiles said that he had isolated himself.
“It is to inform that I have tested positive for # COVID19. I am currently asymtomatic and I isolate myself. I ask all those who have come into close contact with me to be tested. I will continue to work on home to serve the people of my state, “tweeted Mr. Shaikh.

He is the fourth minister in the government led by Uddhav Thackeray to have contracted the virus. The Minister of Social Justice of Maharashtra and the head of the NCP Dhananjay Munde, the Minister of Public Works Ashok Chavan and the Minister of Housing Jitendra Awhad had previously tested positive for the virus.
Former Maharashtra chief minister and senior congressman Shivajirao Patil-Nilangekar, 88, also tested positive recently.
Mr. Shaikh is a congressman from Malad-West headquarters in Mumbai and worked throughout the foreclosure and reopening phases in the state capital, the city most affected by coronavirus, to strengthen its systems Covid response.
Maharashtra reported today 9,518 cases of coronavirus in the highest peak of a day. Some 258 have died in the past 24 hours, according to government data. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra is now 3 10,455. The death toll stands at 11,854.
Mumbai has reported 1,038 cases of coronavirus and 64 deaths in the past 24 hours, while Pune has reported 1,812 new cases. The recovery rate in the state is 54.62%, the positivity rate 19.85% and the mortality rate 3.82%.
Maharashtra has the highest cases of coronavirus in the country, followed by Tamil Nadu and Delhi.
