Satara, Maharashtra:

Burglars wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) broke into a jewelry store in Satara district of Maharashtra and left with 780 grams of gold, police said today.

Police, who accessed video surveillance footage from the jewelry store for their investigation, said they showed burglars seizing gold jewelry from display cases and closets, police said.

Images of the 2-day incident during the COVID-19 lockout show burglars wearing caps, masks, plastic jackets and hand gloves taking jewelry from the storefronts.

A case was registered at the local police station after a complaint from the owner of a jewelry store, who said that the burglars had taken 78 ‘tola’ (one tola makes 10 grams) of gold, police said.

The store owner said the burglars had broken into the store wall, police said.
