Rajendra Shukla said that the BJP in the center and in the state had brought back hundreds of thousands of migrant workers.

Bhopal:

Party leader Bharatiya Janata (BJP) and former Madhya Pradesh minister Rajendra Shukla was criticized by the opposition after asking actor Sonu Sood on Twitter to help migrant workers in his area who were trapped in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Mr. Sood was rewarded for arranging transportation for migrant workers who are unable to return home amidst the national coronavirus shutdown.

Mr. Shukla, the BJP MP for Rewa, shared on Twitter a list of migrants from the Rewa and Satna districts of Madhya Pradesh who are stranded in Mumbai.

“Your migrant brothers will be sent to you tomorrow, sir. If I ever come to MP’s, then offer me Poha.” the actor replied in Hindi.

Mr. Shukla later said that 55 of the 168 people stranded in Mumbai could return following his request to Mr. Sood.

However, social media users dragged Mr. Shukla, pointing out that the BJP is in power in the Center and in Madhya Pradesh, but that its leader had to seek help from a Bollywood actor.

The Opposition Congress also targeted chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

“This tweet from Rajendra Shukla exposes the bitter truth of Madhya Pradesh. See Shivraj (Chouhan), former minister and currently deputy of the BJP of Rewa, cannot trust your government, then he must take the help of the actor Sonu Sood for migrant workers trapped “in Mumbai,” tweeted former Congress chief MP Arun Yadav.

Referring to the state government’s promise to bring back all migrant workers, state congressional spokesperson Narendra Saluja said that Mr. Shukla had been minister for many years in the governments led by Shivraj Chouhan, so he knows the “reality” of the chief minister’s announcements.

“This is why he asked for help from actor Sonu Sood, not Shivraj Chouan, to bring the stranded workers back to Mumbai,” he said.

Shukla said the Center and the state government have brought back hundreds of thousands of migrant workers, but “members of Congress are hiding in their homes.”

Madhya Pradesh BJP spokesman Rajneesh Agrawal said that around six lakh migrants had been brought back by the state government, in which Mr. Shukla also played a large role as a member of the task force. of the BJP on the issue.
