Chandigarh:
The Chandigarh administration allowed alcohol to be served at wedding ceremonies in Union territory on Wednesday, but the bars will remain closed.
“The service of alcoholic beverages at wedding ceremonies will be permitted subject to specific authorization from the excise service. However, the bars will remain closed,” said councilor Manoj Parida.
He added that the “Unlock 2” orders adopted by the Union’s Ministry of Internal Affairs had been adopted in Chandigarh.
It was also decided to abolish the even-odd system, currently applied in certain markets.
This will also apply to street vendors, according to decisions made at a meeting here, said Parida.
The administration also authorized two people on a two-wheeler and four in a car, a movement based on the Punjab model.
“Three people in an autorickshaw will be allowed (including the driver),” said an official statement.
However, all the riders will use masks and the vehicles will be regularly disinfected by the owners.
Shops and restaurants were allowed to remain open from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., the statement said.
Call centers and industrial establishments will be authorized to operate night shifts provided that their employees do not leave the office or the factory during curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Interstate bus services will remain suspended until further notice. The “Apni mandis” and the organic markets will remain closed.
There will be a total ban on social, political, sports, entertainment, academic, cultural, religious and other large congregations, the statement said.
Cinemas, gymnasiums, swimming pools, leisure parks, theaters, bars, spas, auditoriums, meeting rooms and similar places will also not be allowed to operate.
Wearing a mask and social isolation in public places will be strictly enforced and anyone who violates the guidelines or directives will be penalized, the statement said.
