Bail hearing of former Bihar chief minister Lalu Yadav in fodder scam case postponed today to November 27 as CBI fails to file arguments before the High Court of Jharkhand.

Lalu Yadav, who is serving a four-year prison sentence for corruption, has been released on bail in numerous other cases linked to the swindle of government funds for fodder for livestock.

This is the last case and Lalu Yadav hopes to be released on bail this time.

At the High Court hearing, his lawyer Kapil Sibal accused the CBI of “deliberately delaying the application for bail.”

The “Dumka Treasury case” involves Rs 3.5 crore taken from Dumka’s treasury by officials of the Bihar Department of Livestock between 1991 and 1996, when Lalu Yadav was chief minister.

Yadav last month secured bail in connection with the Chaibasa Treasury case, also linked to the fodder scam. He remains in prison awaiting the hearing on the Dumka Treasury case.

Rashtriya leader Janata Dal has been in prison since December 2017 after being sentenced. He served most of his prison sentence in Jharkhand at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) hospital.

In his absence, his son Tejashwi Yadav led the RJD and is the main opposition ministerial candidate in Bihar’s elections which ended on Saturday.

This is the first time in 40 years that Lalu Yadav has missed a national election campaign.

Last month, Tejashwi Yadav said his father would be released on November 9 after the bail hearing and that it would say goodbye to outgoing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar the next day.

“Lalu ji will be released on November 9. He got a bond and will get another one on November 9, which also happens to be my birthday. The next day, Nitishji will say goodbye,” he said in a statement. gathering.
